What is the Trans-Sib?

The Trans-Siberian is possibly the most famous rail journey in the world, and rightly so! Crossing 5 time zones and stretching from Moscow, across The Urals, the Altai Mountains, through Siberia, over the Great Wall and through China into Beijing it really is a mammoth trip.

The Trans-Sib is actually a rail route - not one specific train and you will probably travel on many different trains when you go - Russian, Mongolian and Chinese.

The best times to travel on the train are from April to September. October tends to be the rainy season and November to March is winter. Although most people do travel in the summer months more and more are wanting to experience Siberia in winter time. The cost of the train does not change with the seasons but your flights will.
