Hoaxes... Rip-offs... Scams... Theft... You name it it's out there but you can minimise the risk by noticing the signs and having a bit of forward planning when travelling. Obviously there is no fun in walking around as a paranoid wreck but with a little common sense you can avoid putting yourself in situations that could send you home penniless.
